Background and Distinctions KSHB-TV, Kansas City’s NBC Action News station, is the market’s fastest growing news outlet. KSHB holds the distinction as being the only station in Kansas City to provide news to its viewers at 4 a.m., a previously under-served segment of the viewing audience. Your NBC Action News station is also credited with a number of technological "firsts,” including being the first computer-automated television station in the United States, and being the first in the nation to use a satellite for point-to-point program transmission.
