Background and Distinctions WPTV, an NBC affiliate since signing on more than 50 years ago, is currently the highest rated television station in Florida and has been a market leader for almost all of its history, offering more locally produced programming than its competitors. WPTV also produces the local newscasts for the area's Fox affiliate, WFLX. Its early evening newscasts attract more viewers than competing network affiliates combined. The station moved into a new 70,000 square-foot state-of-the-art digital facility in early 2001. |
