National Merit Scholarship Program

The Scripps Howard Foundation National Merit Scholarship Program was established in 1996 to identify, honor and financially assist sons and daughters of Scripps employees.

Administered by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, the $2,000 scholarship awards are automatically renewed for each of the four years the students remain in college in good standing working toward a degree.

In 2012, children who are juniors in high school for the 2012-2013 school year and will be college freshmen in 2014 are eligible to compete for the scholarships. Scholarships will be awarded in the spring of the student's senior year (2014).

To apply, fill out an online entry form on the National Merit Scholarship Corporation's Web site. The online entry form will be available in September. Deadline to enter is February 28, 2013.

Note: When online entry form is completed, print a copy of the "Submission Confirmation" page (also instructed to do this in Step 5) for record of proof of entry. Each entrant will receive a unique Confirmation Code along with the date and time that the entry was received.

For information about the program or to request a National Merit entry form, contact Vickie Martin, grants administrator, Scripps Howard Foundation at 1-800-888-3000 ext. 3034 or vickie.martin@scripps.com.
