Scripps Days

To strengthen our ties with our three primary partner schools, we organize Scripps Day events. Leaders from The E.W. Scripps Company and the Foundation offer career development presentations and interview candidates for internships and jobs. Scripps Days take place on these campuses:

Ohio University Scripps Days

Scripps Day is an annual celebration of the partnership between the Scripps Howard Foundation and the Scripps College of Communication. It started in September 2006 after the Scripps Howard Foundation announced a $15-million gift to the college. Scripps Day offers students career development sessions on leadership, networking and resume-building, information on industry trends, opportunities to apply for jobs and internships and a “Next Top Intern” competition with a $3,500 prize.

Hampton University Scripps Day

Scripps Day at Hampton University is a platform for students to network with media professionals and receive valuable information about the evolving media landscape. Leaders from The E.W. Scripps Company and the Scripps Howard Foundation provide career development information through keynote presentations and panel discussions. Qualifying students participate in a "Next Top Intern" competition that awards a $3,000 internship stipend and a $500 follow-up scholarship. Students may also interview for jobs and internships with Scripps recruiters and Foundation representatives.

Florida International University Scripps Day

Students from Florida International University’s School of Journalism and Mass Communication take full advantage of Scripps Day to meet executives and professionals from The E.W. Scripps Company and Scripps Howard Foundation. The day-long event helps students improve interview skills, obtain career coaching, network with media professionals and hear advice from those working in the media industry. Students in journalism, public relations and advertising enjoy in-class lectures and digital media demonstrations.
