Winners of the Scripps Howard Awards were honored at a dinner on May 9, 2013 at the Waldorf Astoria in Naples, Fla., home of the Naples Daily News, a Scripps newspaper. The Foundation's Semester in Washington program is an internship program for college journalism students who write for the Scripps Howard Foundation Wire. In addition to a strong focus on reporting and writing national news and features, the program includes visits to the Capitol, the Supreme Court, the Library of Congress, the Student Press Law Center and other journalism and government institutions.
