Scripps Howard Foundation Offers
Collegiate Reporting Prize Trip
to Japan and South Korea
CINCINNATI – The nine winners of the Scripps Howard Foundation’s Roy W. Howard National Collegiate Reporting Competition will receive a 12-day expenses-paid journalism study experience in Japan and South Korea.
The competition, established in 1984 in cooperation with the Indiana University School of Journalism, honors the memory of the journalist who led Scripps Howard Newspapers from 1922-1953 and United Press International from 1912-1920. Annual winners and their school newspapers previously shared $24,750 in scholarships and grants.
Judith G. Clabes, president and CEO of the Scripps Howard Foundation, said the new prize responds to the need for today’s student journalists to better understand international affairs.

to undergraduate journalism students, has a postmark entry
deadline of March 31. Winners will be announced April 17,
and the trip will take place June 11-24. Entry
forms have been sent to the nation’s journalism schools and are
available online at www.scripps.com/foundation.
