Julie McGehee, 62, is senior vice president, environmental and social governance (ESG), and corporate secretary. She is responsible for strategy development, design, implementation, administration, and governance of all compensation and benefit programs for the company’s diverse media businesses. Her primary goal is to ensure that the benefits and compensation programs align with corporate strategic objectives to attract and retain top talent. Julie also oversees all areas related to executive compensation.
As corporate secretary, Julie is responsible for advising the board of directors on its role and responsibilities. She also facilitates the interaction between directors, shareholders and senior management. Prior to joining Scripps, Julie spent seven years at Duke Energy working in the executive compensation, compensation and benefits areas. Her experience is broad, having also overseen equity administration, the long-term incentive plan process, supervision of the internal HR call center, and the management of merger and acquisition related to HR. Julie previously was an HR manager at Cintas Corporation and also has held HR/finance positions at Corporex, Inc., Key Bank and Cincinnati Microwave.
Julie earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Northern Kentucky University and a law degree from the Chase College of Law. She is a member of the Ohio Society of CPAs and the Ohio Bar Association.
Julie serves on the board of directors for the Freestore Foodbank. She also is on the advisory board for Northern Kentucky University’s College of Informatics.
