The
Abilene Reporter-News is the oldest existing
business in Abilene, publishing its first edition
on June 17, 1881, from a tent. It is also one
of the original Harte-Hanks Newspapers, purchased
in the early 1920s and acquired by Scripps
in 1997. The Abilene Reporter-News is the leading
newspaper in a 15-county zone in west Texas
and is the only newspaper published daily in
Abilene. The staff has won numerous awards
from the Texas Associated Press Managing Editors
competition in recent years. The newspaper
is totally paginated.
