The Colorado Daily has served the University of Colorado and Boulder communities since 1892. Its core readership is 18-to-35-year-olds, although it is not limited to that age group. The paper began as the Silver & Gold and was the student newspaper of the University of Colorado from 1892-1971, the last 15 years of that time as the Colorado Daily. The newspaper became an independent daily when it moved off the university campus. The Colorado Daily was among the first newspapers to publish under the advertising-supported free daily paper model. Scripps purchased the newspaper on September 30, 2005.
