  Background and Distinctions  
  Acquired by Harte-Hanks in 1928, the Corpus Christi Caller-Times has grown to become one of the largest newspapers in the state. With a strong tourism, petrochemical and military industry, and a growing higher education system, the newspaper continues to be a mainstay in south Texas with a circulation of 75,000 (Sunday) and 55,000 (daily). The Caller-Times has won first place for the Dallas Press Club’s Best Newspaper in the 100,000 and under circulation category 12 of the past 16 years in Texas and the Southwest. In 2004 the newspaper won 44 state, regional and national awards, including being named Newspaper of the Year in its circulation category by the Texas Associated Press Managing Editors Association.
