English named VP of programming development

CINCINNATI, Ohio – Charlotte Moore English, vice president and general manager of Scripps television station KSHB Channel 41 in Kansas City, has been named vice president of programming development for the broadcast division of The E. W. Scripps Company, parent of KSHB.English has held several positions with Scripps since joining the company in 1987. She served as assistant general manager for programming at WMC in Memphis from 1987 until 1990. She was then transferred to KSHB to become station manager and programming director during the years when Channel 41 was still a FOX affiliate. KSHB affiliated with NBC in 1994.She was named to her current position as vice president and general manager of KSHB in late 1992.”We appreciate the contribution Charlotte has made in helping convert Channel 41 from an independent FOX affiliate to an NBC station with a full- service news department. We look forward to having her advice and counsel as we explore ways to expand local programming across the markets,” said James M. Hart, senior vice president for the Scripps broadcast station group. Her new assignment will begin immediately.English and her husband, Claude, who is head basketball coach and athletic director at Park College, live in Overland Park, Kan. Scripps owns nine television stations; daily newspapers in 16 markets; two television production companies; a licensor and syndicator of news features and comics; and HGTV, a 24-hour cable television channel.
