Wolfzorn named Scripps vice president

CINCINNATI – E. John Wolfzorn, treasurer for The E. W. Scripps Company, will be taking on an expanded financial management role as a vice president of the corporation.Wolfzorn, 56, will be working more closely with the company’s pension fund investment managers, assuming one of the responsibilities previously held by the company’s former chief financial officer, Daniel J. Castellini, who retired in May.“We’re tapping John’s extensive knowledge as a financial manager and his experience as a long-time Scripps executive to oversee the company’s pension fund investment activities,” said Joseph G. NeCastro, who succeeded Castellini as senior vice president and chief financial officer. “John’s charge will be to pick up where Dan left off, safeguarding a secure retirement for all of the company’s present and future pensioners.”Wolfzorn will retain his title and responsibilities as corporate treasurer. As treasurer, Wolfzorn is responsible for managing the company’s debt portfolio, banking relationships and the company’s cash and risk management functions.Wolfzorn was named treasurer in 1979. He joined the company in 1973 as a financial analyst and was promoted to assistant treasurer in 1975. Before joining Scripps, he was with the accounting firm of Deloitte & Touche. He is a member of Financial Executives International and previously served as president of the Cincinnati chapter. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.Wolfzorn received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Thomas More College in 1966. The E.W.
