Dec. 8, 2006

(Phoenix)- Rebecca Thomas joins ABC15 News as co-anchor of ABC15 Daybreak.  This December, Rebecca will join Steve Irvin along with Kaley O’Kelley and Andi Barness for ABC15 Daybreak from 5 to 7AM, the Valley’s choice for local, national, and breaking news, plus weather and traffic updates every 10 minutes.

Rebecca comes to ABC15 from KMIR-TV in Palm Springs, California where she was the anchor of KMIR 6 Today at 5am and KMIR 6 News Midday at 11am.

“Rebecca’s strength is her ability to be authoritative and at the same time very approachable.  I think Valley viewers will appreciate her warmth. She can’t wait to get started and neither can we,” Joe Hengemuehler, ABC15 News Director said.

Rebecca joins an ABC15 News team that is enjoying great successes over the past year.  This past July, more people made the switch to ABC15 News than any other Valley television station.  In fact, throughout the day, ABC15 is the only Valley television station that continues to attract more viewers, an increase of 22% since last July.

ABC15 is also the most recognized Valley television station, honored with an unprecedented 66 Emmy Nominations and 33 Rocky Mountain Emmy Awards from the Rocky Mountain Southwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.  ABC15 is committed to quality journalism and reporting and is recognized for anchoring, investigative news, and for three years in a row, overall station excellence.

ABC15 is also the only Valley television station to receive two Edward R. Murrow Awards for Investigative Reporting and Overall Station Excellence.

ABC15 News at 4, 5, 6, and 10PM is anchored by Jonathan Elias and Katie Raml.
