NBC Action News Hires Veteran News Manager Rick Iler as News Director

(Kansas City, Missouri)-  KSHB/KMCI-TV Vice President and General Manager Craig Allison announced the hiring of Rick Iler as News Director for NBC Action News and 38 The Spot.  Iler joins KSHB/KMCI from KPHO-TV, the CBS affiliate in Phoenix, Arizona where he currently is Assistant News Director.

“Rick has high journalistic standards, a motivational approach and an eye for compelling content,” said Allison. “I am very excited to have him join the NBC Action News team. KSHB has experienced considerable ratings growth over the past several years, and Rick is the perfect leader to take our news product to the next level.”

Before joining KPHO, Iler was News Director at KARK-TV, the NBC outlet in Little Rock, Arkansas. He also served as News Director at stations in Joplin, Missouri and Waco, Texas.

Iler stated, “I am very excited to be coming to a great place like Kansas City and joining the great team at KSHB/KMCI.  I am also looking forward to continuing the success that NBC Action News has had over the last several years.”

Rick and his wife, Rickie, have six children and two grandchildren.   He begins his new duties on August 31.
