NBC ACTION NEWS #2 AT 6PM AND BEATS WDAF IN EVERY EVENING NEWSCAST

Nov. 29, 2007

(Kansas City, Missouri)-  The numbers are in and KSHB-TV continues a trend of impressive growth.  NBC Action News finished the recently completed November sweeps period #2 at 6pm, beating both KCTV and WDAF.  In fact, NBC Action News outperformed Fox 4 in every evening newscast.

“We are very excited by the growth we have seen in October and November.  We have made several changes in the types of stories we air.  I think it shows that the Kansas City market was ready for a station to do less crime and more stories about what is important to them,” added News Director Rick Iler.  “This rating book is a great spring board as we prepare to launch our new Midday and Weekend Morning newscast.”

The November ratings success follows an October, 2007 sweeps period in which the NBC Action News audience grew substantially in key demographics.  NBC Action News at 5pm was up 40% in A25-54 and up 43% in W25-54.  KSHB was the only news station to show growth in this time period, according to Nielsen Media Research.  NBC Action News at 6pm was up 31% in A25-54 and up 45% in W25-54.  All other Kansas City newscasts lost audience in this time period as well.

Craig Allison, Vice President and General Manager of KSHB-TV and KMCI-TV said,"It's extremely rewarding to see more and more viewers make NBC Action News their source for breaking news and severe weather coverage.  This is a reflection of the professionalism and hard work of our entire staff."
