NewsChannel 5 is Number One at 6PM and Noon

In the battle for viewership during Nielsen Media Research’s November ratings period, WEWS’ NewsChannel 5 at 6 and NewsChannel 5 at Noon emerged victoriously, finishing first among local television news stations.  In addition, almost every other NewsChannel 5 newscast gained viewers since the May 2007 or November 2006 ratings periods.  “We’re particularly proud that Northeast Ohioans made NewsChannel 5 at 6 their choice for the best breaking news, weather, and sports coverage in the area,” says News Director Steve Hyvonen.  “Ted Henry, Danita Harris, Chief Meteorologist Mark Johnson, and Sports Director Andy Baskin have thorough market knowledge and undeniable chemistry, and viewers are responding to that,” adds Hyvonen.  “And at Noon, Lee Jordan, Alicia Booth, and meteorologist Susanne Horgan do a wonderful job presenting informative and entertaining news to our mid-day audience.”WEWS NewsChannel 5 gained viewers in the following newscasts (all ratings and shares reflect Nielsen Households):

·        Good Morning Cleveland (6-7AM)2.9 rating, 11 share.  Up 10% in rating and 2% in share compared to May 2007.

·        NewsChannel 5 at Noon (12-1PM)5.2 rating, 16 share.  Up 18% in rating and 11% in share compared to November 2006.·        Live On Five (5-6PM)6.7 rating, 13.5 share.  Up 11% in rating and 13% share compared to November 2006.  Up 40% in rating and 23% in share compared to May 2007. ·        NewsChannel 5 at 6 (66:30PM)7.7 rating, 14.2 share.  Up 34% in rating and 16% in share compared to May 2007.  Up 7% in rating and 9% in share compared to November 2006.WEWS’ growth extends well beyond their newscasts.  Several of the station’s syndicated and Network programs realized the following audience gains:·        Good Morning America (7-9AM)3.2 rating, 10.5 share.  Up 17% in rating and 11% in share compared to May 2007.  Up 31% in rating and 26% in share compared to November 2006.·        Martha (10-11AM) – 2.5 rating, 8.8 shareUp 13% in rating compared to May 2007.·        The View (11-12PM)4.2 rating, 14 share.  Up 48% in rating and 21% in share compared to May 2007.  Up 50% in rating and 43% in share compared to November 2006.·        Daytime (1-4PM)2.8 rating, 8 share.  All My Children, One Life To Live, and General Hospital combined were up 9% in rating and 2% in share compared to November 2006.·        Oprah (4-5PM)6.2 rating, 14.3 share, #1 in the time period.  Up 44% in rating and 29% in share compared to May 2007.  Up 21% in rating and 20% in share compared to November 2006.

·        ABC World News (6:30-7PM)7.3 rating, 13 share, #1 Network newscast in the time period.  Up 35% in rating and 16% in share compared to May 2007.  Up 12% in rating and 16% in share compared to November 2006.

·        Wheel of Fortune (7-7:30PM)8.5 rating, 15 share, #1 in the time period.  Up 27% in rating and 10% in share compared to May 2007.  Up 10% in rating and 14% in share compared to November 2006.·        Jeopardy (7:30-8PM)10 rating, 17 share, #1 in the time period.  Up 20% in rating and 7% in share compared to May 2007.  ·        ABC Primetime – ABC took the #1 position among A18-49 for the third straight November sweeps, earning a 3.7 rating.  ABC also ranked #1 among A25-54 earning a 4.3 rating.  Season-to-date, ABC boasts 8 out of the top 20 shows among A25-54, including 2 new shows.
