NBC ACTION NEWS LAUNCHES WEEKEND MORNING NEWSCAST

(Kansas City, Missouri)–  Rick Iler, KSHB-TV News Director, announced today that the weekend edition of NBC Action News Today will premiere Saturday, January 26, 2008.  The newscast will air from 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.  As a result, NBC’s Saturday Today will be seen from 6:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m.  On Sundays, Sunday Today will air from

7:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m., followed by NBC Action News Today.  Meet the Press, NBC’s popular political show, will remain in the 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. time period.

 

“Viewers clearly want more local news, and we are pleased to give it to them,” said Craig Allison, Vice President and General Manager of KSHB-TV and KMCI-TV.  “This, along with the addition of NBC Action News Midday, shows our commitment and dedication to Kansas City’s news audience.”

 

The weekend addition of NBC Action News Today will be anchored by Amy Hawley and Mike Marusarz. Both Hawley and Marusarz are currently general assignment reporters for NBC Action News.  Meteorologist Jeremy Nelson completes the anchor team and will bring viewers the forecast certified Kansas City’s most accurate.

 

“It was a very intensive anchor search and we had several candidates.  But at the end of the day, we had two very qualified people under our own roof,” Iler stated.
