WEWS Channel 5 named Cedric Thomas as the station’s new General Sales Manager. “I am proud to return to Cleveland,” Cedric states with enthusiasm. “It has always been my dream to come back home and work for WEWS.” He comes to WEWS from KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh, where he served as Local Sales Manager.
“Cedric is an energetic leader with an impressive track record in broadcast sales,” states Viki Regan, Vice President and General Manager at WEWS. “From growing new revenue streams to building new relationships within the business community, we’re excited to have Cedric return to Cleveland and join WEWS.”
A proud product of the East Cleveland school system, Cedric remembers the school slogan “Knowledge is power and excellence begins with you.” Cedric says he tries to live by those words every day. After graduating from the University of Akron, Cedric started his broadcasting career right here in Cleveland at WKYC. His next move was to WTOV in Steubenville as a Director, working his way up to Operations Manager. “I learned all aspects of broadcast television while working at WTOV, including production, news, traffic, and engineering.”
From Steubenville, Thomas moved to KDKA as an account executive but also directed local programs such as Hometown High Q and The Jerome Bettis Show. He was eventually promoted to Local Sales Manager and managed the top-ranked sales staff in Pittsburgh television. Thomas also supervised the Production Department at KDKA.
