CINCINNATI – Kenneth W. Lowe, chairman, president and CEO, Scripps Networks Interactive, will receive the National Association of Home Builders’ (NAHB) Special Achievement Award today in Las Vegas.

The NAHB is recognizing Lowe for his contributions to the home building industry by building interest in home improvement through entertaining programming on HGTV, DIY Network and Fine Living Network. The three networks are part of the lifestyle media segment of Scripps Networks Interactive.

“The American public’s interest in home improvement is at an all-time high thanks to television shows and networks such as HGTV, DIY Network and Fine Living,” said Sandy Dunn, chairman of the board, National Association of Home Builders. “Ken’s pioneering work to create entertaining programming focused on the home has shown people that whether by building, remodeling or redecorating, they can have the home of their dreams. Today’s homes are no longer just shelters, they are sanctuaries.”

Lowe will accept the award during the 1,500-member NAHB Board of Directors meeting in conjunction with the 2009 International Builders’ Show today at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Lowe founded and launched HGTV in 1994 and later presided over the launches of DIY and Fine Living Networks. He also laid the groundwork for and guided the development of the company’s leading Internet sites dedicated to the home including HGTV.com, HGTVPro.com, DIYnetwork.com and FrontDoor.com.
