CINCINNATI, Ohio – The E.W. Scripps Company has completed the purchase of several cable television systems in the Knoxville/Chattanooga region from Mid-Tennessee CATV, L.P. The Company announced the purchase, valued at $62.5 million, on Sept. 15, 1995.The systems’ 34,000 subscribers will be included in the merger of Scripps’ cable assets with Comcast Corporation. That transaction, which was announced on Oct. 29, 1995, is expected to close in the second half of this year.
