Scripps sells Watsonville Register-Pajaronian

CINCINNATI, Ohio – The E.W. Scripps Company announced today that it has sold the Watsonville (Calif.) Register-Pajaronian to Illinois-based News Media Corporation, a publisher of 32 newspapers in five states. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.The Register-Pajaronian, with circulation of 11,000, is an afternoon newspaper published Monday through Saturday. The John P. Scripps Newspapers group, which merged with The E.W. Scripps Company in 1986, created the Register-Pajaronian when it acquired and merged the Watsonville (Morning) Register and Evening Pajaronian newspapers in 1937.The E.W. Scripps Company operates 18 daily newspapers, nine television stations, nine cable system clusters, two television production companies, a 24-hour cable channel, and a licensor and syndicator of news features and comics.
