June 13, 2016 By Rebecca McCarter

CINCINNATI – Over-the-top news network Newsy has signed a distribution agreement with the publishing arm of Schurz Communications, Inc. Under the deal, Newsy videos appear on the websites of Schurz’s daily and weekly newspapers across the United States.

“Our goal is to always deliver the best content for our audience, and Newsy helps us fill a niche that was previously underserved: the millennial news-seeker,” said J.B. Ozuna, vice president, digital, of Schurz Communications. “Newsy content adds a new voice to the conversation around the news of the day, and our viewers are showing high engagement with the videos.”

Newsy videos are now live via streaming players on the websites of six Schurz newspapers. Newsy’s award-winning editorial team is known for its analysis and perspective on the day’s top stories, spanning world and national news, policy, culture, science and technology. Newsy is a wholly owned subsidiary of The E.W. Scripps Company (NYSE: SSP).

“Digital audiences are looking for the latest news in video format, no matter the place or device,” said Blake Sabatinelli, general manager of Newsy. “Newsy helps publishers like Schurz meet that audience demand, while also delivering an additional stream of revenue.”

Newsy is a leader in video syndication, driving shared revenue with hundreds of top publishers. In addition, Newsy has a broad presence across major OTT platforms, including Apple TV, where it was named a Best New App for 2015, as well as Sling TV, Watchable from Comcast, Pluto TV, Roku, Google Chromecast, Amazon Fire TV and Xumo.
